Bargaining Objectives

Our goal for negotiations for any contract is to PROTECT, PRESERVE and IMPROVE the conditions and compensation our members are owed for their work.
  • PROTECT against any changes to agreements that have the potential to undermine or harm workers both in the present contract cycle or years down the line. 

  • PRESERVE the provisions, benefits, and working conditions that were bargained by those who came before us.

  • IMPROVE upon compensation and working conditions to reflect the changing nature of the industry and larger economy. 

 

Our Bargaining Priorities are:
  • REASONABLE
    • Addressing long standing issues our members have faced on the job, including re-capturing some protections and conditions that have been lost over the years.

  • REALISTIC 
    • While comparing the compensation and working conditions of Motion Picture Teamsters across the Country, many of our proposals include business practices that are already being implemented by the employers we bargain with. 

    • They have been agreeing to terms and conditions across the country already that will be reflected in our proposals.

  • Reflective of the RESPECT Hollywood Teamsters deserve.
    • Hollywood has long been the heart of the film and television business. Our members have given their lives to this industry and deserve the ability to secure a middle class life and retire with dignity. 

    • There is no reason Hollywood Teamsters should be subjected to anything less.

Bargaining Priorities

Below are some of the generalized bargaining priorities identified across both our 'Black Book' and Location Manager Agreement that we are negotiating with the AMPTP:

WAGES

  • Increased wages for all Hollywood Teamsters.

  • Raising the floor on classifications that have been long struggling to catch up to industry standards.

  • Creating minimums on department heads that have seen wages deterioration over time while the expectations of the job and duties continue to grow.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Increased overtime penalties for excessive long hours.

  • Increased meal penalties and protections for Hollywood Teamsters unable to take a break relieved of all duties during the day. 

  • Minimum staffing to address shrinking team sizes with increased expectations of more work and responsibility. 

  • Reduction of wage tiers.

  • Protection of work against new and changing technologies. 

  • Increased holidays. 

  • Clarifying contract language to assist in enforcement.

PENSION & HEALTH BENEFITS

  • Securing diversified funding mechanisms to the pension and health plan in the form of streaming residuals so that Hollywood crewmembers can benefit from the success of programming. 

  • Maintenance of benefits with no added costs to participants. 

  • Increased pension accrual rate to support additional security in retirement.
